Coastscape Services was selected to undertake an approximate $450,000 building grounds redevelopment at The Esplanade Luxury Beachfront Apartments, Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
A critical factor in the bid evaluation was identifying the contractor who would be able to work with the owners to deliver a best value outcome. Not only was this project delivery approach identified in the selection of Coastscape, it was very clearly demonstrated throughout the project so that as issues arose they were dealt with professionally, sensibly and fairly.
The project became complicated soon after execution of the contract with a need to fundamentally change the design and construction approach for the entire project due to a latent condition. Coastscape excelled in working with the owners, though the owner’s representative, to identify and implement a solution that satisfied the project scope and maintained the project within the budget. At no time was there any indication of unsubstantiated claims or dispute due to the large scope change.
The principal of Coastscape, Scott Williams, remained focussed on the best outcomes for the project throughout and worked with the owners to ensure that their expectations were met. Scott always kept the owners representative informed as issues arose and maintained excellent communication with the owners to identify the issues and provide options that ensued best outcomes for the owners.
Critically, Scott would listen to comments from anyone offering them but would ensure the agreed process for change management was followed, being direction from the owner’s representative.
Coastscape demonstrated throughout the project a focus on delivering value for the owners and were flexible in working with the owners, both in terms of scope and schedule. This was clearly evidenced in ensuring the owner’s disruption was minimised over critical periods including peak occupancy such as the January holiday period and Easter. Throughout the project Coastscape was professional in its project management delivery with a focus on safe outcomes, meeting owner expectations and best value. Scott was always friendly to all who sought to discuss issues with him and provided timely feedback.
As the owner’s representative or for any direct use on my behalf, I would have no hesitation in using Coastscape again on a similar project or on projects larger or smaller scale and would feel assured of the same value outcome on all occasions….
